Alternate title: A Brief Sketch of My Thoughts on the Latest Episode of Doctor Who, in Roughly Chronological Order:
1. Nice.
2. Awesome.
3. OMG SCARY.
4. Awesome.
5. And also scary.
6. Seriously. Creepy.
7. Ha!
8. Aw. Sniff.
9. Ha!
10. Ha ha!
11. Nice.
12. Ugh.
13. UGH.
14. REALLY?
15. Seriously, REALLY?
And now a bit more detail: We just came off a season during which there was no sexual tension between the Doctor and his companion, and it worked, so we know that we don’t need it to have either compelling stories or characters. I was looking forward to a season in which the relationship would be slightly more familial, with the Doctor as more of a paternal figure. It looked as though we were heading in that direction, with the forehead kisses and such. And while I completely understand that Amy’s attachment to the Doctor would’ve during her formative years been built up to the extent that she would have some serious transference issues when she comes back into contact with him, still. Am I the only one who thought the way she attacked him was wholly unnecessary? Is it too much to hope that maybe I was supposed to feel uncomfortable by that, and next episode they’ll put it all to bed? Because I don’t think I could sit through another season of a companion with a crush. Just: no.
